In among the crowded and bustling metal scene of Norway, a young quintet are looking to make their mark. They are Psykopath, and they are getting set to release their debut EP – Primal Instinct.

Clearly taking inspiration from 80’s thrash, when the genre was at its prime – fittingly enough, former Metallica producer Flemming Rassmuseen handles the mixing here – each of the three tracks are high-tempo, full-frontal assaults embodied by blinding riffs, feverishly intense drumming and shrill vocal work, and the blunt lyrics match up with the music well.

While lacking in originality, Primal Instinct is nevertheless a barbaric rush eliciting with ruthless aggression. If able to establish a more unique identity, Psykopath could very well become something special one day.
