REVIEW | Monkey Puzzle: Suck Macaque

For whatever reason, Glasgow nu-metal band Monkey Puzzle have slipped under our radar for so long, but now it’s time to give them the attention they deserve as we take a look at their newest EP, Suck Macaque (cue immature chuckle).

Fuckbunker is a frenzied opener with slick vocals and rocking riffs that gets us accustomed to what we’re to expect from this record. Boomslang follows suit with a hell of a bouncy rhythm, whilst Sparklehorse dons more calm, restrained verses that soon lend their way to fiery, boisterous choruses.

Just Cause is as good as it gets when it comes to rap-core; a blistering tune with every member of the band clearly bringing their A-game that soon leads into a fast and furious finale courtesy of Drop The Beat with some damn good bass lines to boot.

A solid record on the whole that entertains with a batch of action-packed tracks that will have any nu-fan left gushing.
