Hailing from Edinburgh, cinematic post-rock outfit 3 Days From Retirement for whatever reason don’t receive the attention they deserve, but trust me when I say they are a mighty talented group. Case in point: What Is Dead May Never Die.

Over the course of 9 minutes, the band deliver a complex tune that engrosses the listener from beginning to end with it’s absorbing ambience, stimulating riffs and sleek drum beats. Starting off slow and fluid, the track builds as it progresses until it reaches a grand, sumptuous climax.

On the whole, a fantastic, engaging single that is certain to please those who like to bask in the finest instrumental music. Yet another great band to emerge from the Scottish capital, and we’re already highly anticipating their upcoming EP.
