REVIEW | Sacre Noir: Sinking Into Darkness

Today, we’re looking at Edinburgh electronica band Sacre Noir. Having never really explored the genre before, I had no idea what to expect when I took the plunge into their Sinking Into Darkness album. What I found was a great record that delivers a collection of really cool, dark tunes.

She Can’t Take It has a catchy rhythm and exposes the listener to Carrie’s distinct vocal stylings for the first time, which is carried over into A Song For Departed Lovers which almost has a waltz quality to it. Can’t Find My Truth features an enjoyable melody, some lovely synth work and a fantastic chorus, and I really admire Night Flight for it’s eerie sound.

But undoubtedly the highlight of the album has to be It’s Too Late Now, an incredibly haunting number oozing with a gloomy atmosphere that is topped off by some really good guitar work and memorable lyrics that are almost certainly to be glued into your head afterwards.

On the whole, this is a very addictive record that never fails to please with every listen, and one I was very glad to discover.
