REVIEW | Falling With Style – Audio | 23rd March 2015

In March 2015, after 5 years together, Welsh post-hardcore band Falling With Style finally embarked on their first ever headlining UK tour – alongside The Hiding Place from Stoke – with their second stop being in Glasgow. Having never played in the city before, and being unprepared for whatever reception they would receive, how would their debut performance at Audio go down?

Kicking off the show was Misguided Anchors, who had the task of warming up the crowd from the bitter Scottish cold, and they did just that, delivering a really tight set of tunes including Lust and the insane closing track Be Unleashed. With some really great vocal work and a hell of a stage presence, these guys impressed me big time. Final Thoughts kept the momentum going with a solid performance featuring energetic numbers both old and new that had the audience fixated on them throughout.

The Hiding Place were up next. I was real excited to see these guys after having recently discovered them and quickly becoming a massive fan of their So This Is Home EP, and damn were they so good live, putting on a dynamic show with an array of kick ass tunes including some from their EP, much to my delight, like Barfly and Guts. Accompanied by powerful vocals, catchy riffs and hard hitting drum work, they certainly made a statement, and I’m dying to see them back to play here again soon.

At last, it was finally time for Falling With Style to step up. With frontman Lucas in amongst the crowd and the rest of the band perked high on the stage, they took over the venue and captivated all in attendance with an incredible set fueled by passion and motivated by the need to make an impact on all those watching, with tunes from their upcoming record Lost And Found such as the lead single Half Measures, as well as some classics off the This Hell You Call Home EP.

Wrapping up with The Day The Earth Stood Still, these guys had truly left their mark in Glasgow. They came, they conquered and with open arms they are welcome back any time.
